Petition to Ban Hydraulic Fracturing in the Town of Chenango

We, the undersigned, believe that high-volume hydraulic fracturing (shale gas extraction) poses a significant threat to our water, air, and quality of life.  We believe that allowing this practice in our community will significantly endanger our health and well-being, and negatively alter the character of our town.

High-volume hydraulic fracturing (shale gas extraction) is a heavily industrialized process that in surrounding states has severely snarled traffic and damaged local agriculture, hunting, fishing, tourism, roads, and local economies.

We urge the Town of Chenango to ban hydraulic fracturing (shale gas extraction).
